Mission
The Center for Transnational Migration and Social Inclusion aims to build an inclusive society in the belief that no person should be discriminated based on their social identities.
We look to develop recommendations for social and policy change based on empirical data on gender, migration, care, and social inequality.
As a practical research institute, we aim to lead a just change where inclusion becomes common sense through cooperation with academia, the field, civil society, the government, and leading international organizations.
Research Projects
Impact of Covid-19 on Care
This study analyses how care provision for elders and children have been affected, through conducting video interviews of caregivers within the field alongside reviewing existing literature.
Migration and Women: The Lives and Experiences of Marriage Migrant Women
This project seeks to explore the childcare and elderly care conditions of marriage migrant women by analyzing how their transnational family composition is divided and/or connected.
Current Issues on Refugee Studies: Social Integration of Refugees in South Korea
This project aims to provide measures for South Korean universities to help refugees become integrated into the society by interviewing staffs from universities, educational institutions, governmental agencies, and refugees.
Women’s Care Work in Modern Korea: Balancing Work and Family Life
As part of the Kyujanggak Korean Studies Research Cluster Project, this study is long-term research aiming to gather information on how women’s experience on ‘work’ and ‘caring’ evolved from the colonial period to the current modern society.
KOICA-SNU Master’s Program on Gender and Development
This program aims to train leaders who are active in fields related to gender equality, by providing a multidisciplinary approach, so that public administrators can realistically implement gender equality programs based on theories and real-life cases in a comprehensive and systematic manner.
