Senior Research Fellow, Center for Transnational Migration and Social Inclusion (CTMS)

Jiweon Jun is a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Transnational Migration and Social Inclusion, Graduate School of International Studies, Seoul National University (CTMS, SNU GSIS). She holds a DPhil in Sociology from the University of Oxford, where she specialized in time use and well-being in later life. During her time at Oxford's Centre for Time Use Research (now based at UCL), she conducted international comparative studies on work-family balance and harmonized global time use data. At the University of Toronto's Global Social Policy Center and CTMS, she focused on the analysis of the care economy and gender. Her recent projects, including the 2018 and 2022 Korea Care Surveys and the Korea Childcare Amid COVID-19 Surveys, involve collecting and analyzing empirical data to enhance understanding of paid and unpaid care work in Korea. Through this work, she aims to foster a deeper societal appreciation and recognition of the value of care. Dr. Jun's research encompasses the nature and structure of care work, the care economy, work-life balance, low fertility and population ageing, gender and caregiver burden, and changing patterns of time use across the life course. Her interests also include developing multidimensional measures and conducting surveys on these topics.
